Arsenal’s summer recruit Raheem Sterling has been labelled the Premier League’s ‘flop of the season’ due to his poor start at the club.
Arsenal’s summer signing, Raheem Sterling, has been labeled the Premier League ‘flop of the season’ following his underwhelming start at the Emirates. The former Manchester City winger, who joined Arsenal on loan from Chelsea, has struggled to make an impact.
In his first few months, Sterling managed just one goal in a 5-1 Carabao Cup win against Bolton Wanderers and has started only two league games. His performances have been described as lackluster, by former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore.
‘Raheem Sterling has been a massive disappointment,’ Collymore told Metro. ‘He came in and said he was going to give the club his best work, but that hasn’t happened.
‘He’s arguably stunk the place out so far and he’s definitely one of the flops of the season having promised to do his best work at Arsenal.
‘He’s an experienced player who has won everything there is to win, he was expected to push the dressing room up another level and he hasn’t done that.’
Despite the criticism, there is still hope that Sterling can turn things around and prove his worth to the team. Only time will tell if he can regain his form and help Arsenal achieve their goals this season.
