Genoa’s new coach, Patrick Vieira, took over after Alberto Gilardino was fired.
Genoa has decided to part ways with head coach Alberto Gilardino. The Italian club has quickly moved to appoint former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira as their new manager.
The former AC Milan, Fiorentina, and Italy striker Alberto Gilardino, was dismissed following a difficult start to the season. With only two wins from their first 12 games, Genoa is just one point above the relegation zone. Despite leading the team to promotion from Serie B last season, the recent performance was not satisfactory, resulting in his sacking.
Patrick Vieira, has been on an extensive coaching journey since retiring in 2011. His impressive career includes roles with Manchester City’s youth teams, New York City FC, OGC Nice, Crystal Palace, and Strasbourg. Vieira has previous experience working with Genoa’s star player, Mario Balotelli, during their time at Manchester City.
Vieira is renowned for his attacking playstyle and his ability to instill strong work ethics in his teams. His debut match will be against Cagliari, a critical game for both teams as they fight to avoid relegation. Fans and players have greeted Vieira’s appointment with optimism, hoping his leadership will turn the club’s fortunes around.
As Vieira takes charge at Genoa, the focus will be on his ability to inspire the team to climb the standings and secure their Serie A status. With his vast experience and tactical knowledge, Vieira is expected to make a significant impact on the club’s future.
