Former Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham is reportedly a target for Newcastle United and might take on a similar job at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United are reportedly considering Vinai Venkatesham, the former Arsenal chief executive, for a similar role at St James’ Park. According to Daily Mail, Venkatesham, who spent 14 years at Arsenal, including the last three as CEO, is being eyed as a potential replacement for Darren Eales, who stepped down after being diagnosed with a chronic form of blood cancer.
Venkatesham’s tenure at Arsenal saw the club through a period of significant growth and success, coinciding with the rise of manager Mikel Arteta. His experience in managing the club’s business operations and his successful financial and sponsorship deals have made him an attractive candidate for Newcastle United.
Peter Silverstone, Newcastle’s Chief Commercial Officer, has a close working relationship with Venkatesham from their time together at Arsenal, which could further facilitate his potential move to St James’ Park. Venkatesham’s departure from Arsenal was announced earlier this year, with him expressing a desire to pursue new challenges.
Newcastle United’s owners are keen to find a strong leader who can help the club continue its progression both on and off the pitch. Venkatesham’s proven track record and business acumen make him a compelling candidate for the role.
While the discussions are still in the early stages, Venkatesham’s appointment could bring valuable expertise and stability to Newcastle United as they navigate the next phase of their journey.
