Southampton are eyeing up a move to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale according to The Sun.
Aaron Ramsdale is seeking first-team football after losing his place to David Raya last season. While the Gunners would like to retain Ramsdale as backup to Raya, they understand his situation. If Ramsdale departs the Emirates this summer, Arsenal would prefer a permanent transfer and aim for a fee close to the ÂŁ30 million they paid Sheffield United for him in 2021. However, if no team meets their asking price, they may allow Ramsdale to go out on loan in the hopes that his performances would generate a huge fee in the future.
Mikel Arteta has already stated concerns about complying with financial regulations are restricting the club’s transfer activity so far this summer.
According to The Sun, Southampton has expressed interest in signing Ramsdale, who is eager to secure regular first-team football in the upcoming season. Ramsdale’s potential move to Saints looks promising, particularly with Southampton’s recent promotion to the Premier League. The team is currently facing a goalkeeping challenge with Gavin Bazunu sidelined until 2025 due to an Achilles injury, leaving Alex McCarthy and Joe Lumley as the only fit senior goalkeepers. Therefore, Ramsdale’s addition to the team could be instrumental in strengthening their squad.
