Things have not gone according to plan for Smith Rowe since the 2021/22 season, when the Englishman appeared headed for a very bright career at Arsenal.
Injuries have halted the midfielder’s advancement, and while he’s been out of action, other players have surpassed him in Arteta’s Arsenal hierarchy. This season, it was on full display as the 23-year-old saw action on just 19 occasions for the Gunners, with just four of those appearances coming from the starting lineup.
Although Smith Rowe has a contract that runs until 2026, he may choose to leave North London to further his career after realizing he will once again get little playing time.
It is still to be determined who formally offers for the Gunners star in the coming months, but Football Insider reports that Arsenal are prepared to take bids around £30 million.
London rivals Fulham hold Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe in high esteem
Since early June, rumours have circulated that Fulham are interested in signing Smith Rowe, a standout player for Arsenal, during the upcoming summer transfer window. This information first surfaced in The Standard.
Even though the Cottagers have expressed interest in the 23-year-old, no formal bid has been received as of yet, according to Football Insider.
It would be a smart move for Arsenal to trade Smith Rowe for £30 million during the transfer window so they can add to their roster. Gunners fans will be disappointed to see the midfielder depart because, had injuries not plagued him, his career with the Premier League powerhouses may have taken a very different turn.
But that’s the game, and it will be interesting to watch the 23-year-old’s final destination before the new season begins.
