Mika Biereth, the 21-year-old Arsenal forward, spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan with Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz. During his time there, he scored nine goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances. Before that, he had a successful loan spell with Scottish Premiership team Motherwell, where he scored six goals and assisted five times.
Biereth’s impressive performances away from Arsenal have sparked speculation about his future, especially since his contract in North London expires next summer. However, The Athletic reports that the Gunners have agreed to sell him to Sturm Graz for £4 million. The deal includes a sell-on clause, allowing Arsenal to profit from any future sale. This transfer fee is also believed to be a record for Sturm Graz.
Speaking about his loan experience, Biereth praised Sturm Graz, who will be competing in the Champions League next season after winning the Austrian Bundesliga. He highlighted the club’s great atmosphere and strong quality of play.
Biereth has confidence in his abilities and has compared himself to a hybrid of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland. His focus remains on scoring goals, but he also recognizes the importance of other aspects of the game.
While Biereth’s exit will not effect Arsenal’s first team this season, there may be additional changes within the senior group until the transfer window closes on August 30.
