The Dutchman, who scored 132 goals in 278 appearances for Arsenal, has carved out a new path in coaching since his retirement from professional football in 2019.

The former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has recently shared his thoughts on his coaching journey and the possibility of returning to the Emirates Stadium. This sentiment has lingered over the years, and Van Persie acknowledges that it has likely closed the door on any potential return to Arsenal.

In an interview with  FEAN Online  Van Persie stated, “Well, I don’t expect to work at Arsenal. I think that door is closed. Because of my switch to Manchester United, that is my assessment. You never know in football, but that is my assessment. It is still sensitive for them, not for me. It is especially sensitive for the Arsenal fans.”

Despite this, Van Persie is currently enjoying his role as the head coach of SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie. He expressed his pride in the position and the warm welcome he has received from the club and its fans. “I really enjoy it here and I am very proud to be the coach of SC Heerenveen. I feel very welcome within the club and among the fans. I also think that is important that you feel welcome.”

Van Persie’s journey from a celebrated striker to a respected coach has been marked by highs and lows. While his time at Arsenal is remembered fondly by many, his departure to United remains a point of contention. However, Van Persie is focused on the present and building his career in coaching without looking back.
