Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has stirred up controversy with his recent comments following the dramatic 2-2 draw between City and Arsenal. When asked to compare the two Premier League rivals, the Portuguese maestro did not hold back, taking a jab at Arsenal.
He pointed out that Liverpool’s success in recent years, including winning the Premier League and the Champions League, has shaped their mentality. In contrast, Arsenal has struggled to achieve similar silverware.
“Maybe that Liverpool have already won the Premier League, Arsenal haven’t,” Silva stated. “Liverpool always faced us face-to-face, to try to win the games, so from this perspective, the games against Arsenal haven’t been like the ones we had and have against Liverpool. So yes, maybe a different rivalry.”
Silva didn’t mince words when discussing Arsenal’s tactics. He emphasized that while Manchester City often engages in high-intensity, attacking football against Liverpool, the Gunners tend to adopt a more defensive stance.
“Only one team came to play football,” Silva asserted. “The other came to play to the limits of what was possible to do and allowed by the referee, unfortunately.”
Silva also expressed frustration with time-wasting tactics during the game. He criticized the referee’s handling of such situations and questioned the effectiveness of meetings with the FA to address these issues.
“In the end, it doesn’t have any worth,” Silva lamented. “They say a lot but nothing happens.”
