Arsenal may have a huge problem in the upcoming January transfer window, as they risk losing their versatile defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu. According to The Sun, the Japanese international, who has been a crucial player for the Gunners since joining in August 2021, is attracting interest from several top Serie A teams, including Inter Milan, Napoli, and Juventus.

Tomiyasu joined Arsenal from Bologna for nearly £20 million and quickly established himself as a reliable and adaptable defender under Mikel Arteta. Capable of playing both full-back positions and even in central defense, his versatility has been invaluable to the team. Despite extending his contract until 2026 in March, Tomiyasu has found himself slipping down the pecking order due to a series of injuries and the arrival of new defensive talents.

The interest in Serie A is not new. Inter Milan, in particular, has been linked with Tomiyasu since the summer transfer window. However, Arsenal were not interested in loaning out the defender at that time. Now, with the January window approaching, the Italian giants are reportedly preparing to make a move, with Arsenal potentially open to a sale if the price is right.

Arsenal’s defensive lineup has been significantly strengthened with the arrivals of Riccardo Calafiori and the return of Jurrien Timber from injury. This depth has made it challenging for Tomiyasu to secure a regular starting spot, contributing to the speculation about his future at the club.
