According to David Ornstein, Arsenal has rejected a verbal offer from Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad for Belgian forward Leandro Trossard. The offer, which included a season-long loan with a €5 million fee and an obligation to buy next summer for a fee between €20-25 million, was swiftly turned down by the North London club.

Since joining Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023, Trossard has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad. His versatility and finishing ability have made him a valuable asset, capable of playing on either wing or in a central attacking role. Trossard’s contributions have been pivotal in several key matches, and he has quickly become a fan favorite at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s decision to reject the proposal underscores their commitment to retaining key players as they aim to compete for top honors in the Premier League and European competitions. The club’s management views Trossard as a crucial component of their attacking options, especially given the closure of the Premier League transfer window, which limits their ability to find a suitable replacement until January.

The Saudi Pro League has been making headlines with its ambitious recruitment drive, attracting several high-profile players from European leagues. Al Ittihad’s interest in Trossard is part of this broader strategy to enhance the league’s competitiveness and global appeal. However, Arsenal’s firm stance indicates that they are not willing to part with one of their key players, despite the lucrative offer.
