Arsenal have secured the services of Brazilian goalkeeper Neto from Bournemouth. This move comes after Espanyol rejected Arsenal’s final bid for Joan GarcΓa, insisting on the full release clause being paid.
Arsenal had been in the market for a new goalkeeper following the departure of Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton. Initially, the Gunners targeted Espanyol’s Joan GarcΓa, offering a β¬20 million fixed fee plus add-ons. However, Espanyol stood firm, demanding the full release clause of β¬25-30 million, which Arsenal were unwilling to meet.
With the GarcΓa deal falling through, Arsenal swiftly turned their attention to Neto. The 35-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper, who had been a consistent performer for Bournemouth, has joined Arsenal on a season-long loan.
Neto’s arrival brings experience and depth to Arsenal’s goalkeeping department. Having played for top clubs like Barcelona and Juventus, Neto’s wealth of experience will be invaluable for the Gunners. His presence will also provide healthy competition for Raya, ensuring that Arsenal have quality options between the sticks.
