Roy Keane voices Arsenal concern over Eberechi Eze’s England display, urging higher standards despite win against Andorra.
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has voiced concern over Arsenal new signing Eberechi Eze following England’s 2–0 victory against Andorra. Despite the win, Keane believes Eze’s performance lacked the sharpness expected at international level.
Eze started in the attacking midfield role, linking up with teammates Marcus Rashford and Noni Madueke. Although England dominated possession, Eze missed two clear chances to score. One opportunity came in the first half, and another in the 55th minute, when he fired over the bar after a well-placed pass from Rashford.
Speaking after the match, Roy Keane said in a post-match analysis quoted by Metro UK
“The worry for me when we talk about players like this… I think he done okay. But the manager will be saying ‘okay is not good enough. We need to be setting than that.’”
England manager Thomas Tuchel agreed with Keane’s concerns. He admitted that Eze “struggled a bit” with decision-making and failed to capitalize on key moments. Tuchel noted that while Eze trained well, his performance on the pitch didn’t reflect that preparation.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright offered a more positive take. He praised Eze’s positioning and effort, though he acknowledged the missed chances:
“He’ll be disappointed he didn’t do better with that, but as long as he is staying in that area, I am really happy.”
With England preparing to face Serbia next, fans and analysts will be watching closely to see if Eze can bounce back. For now, Roy Keane’s concern highlights the pressure young players face when stepping onto the international stage.
