Arsenal Keen on Rodrygo Move as Arteta Eyes Loan Deal to Bolster Attack Amid Real Madrid Uncertainty

Arsenal are reportedly still keen on signing Real Madrid winger Rodrygo Goes, as manager Mikel Arteta looks to further reinforce his attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season. However, the Gunners are only prepared to make a move under one specific condition: a loan deal.

Rodrygo, 24, has endured a turbulent season at the Bernabéu. Once a key figure in Real Madrid’s attack, his role diminished following the arrival of Kylian Mbappé and the tactical reshuffle under new manager Xabi Alonso. Tensions reportedly peaked when Rodrygo refused to play in El Clásico and was subsequently dropped from the squad. Despite starting in the Club World Cup, he played just 27 minutes across the tournament.

Arsenal have already made six signings this summer, including Viktor Gyökeres and Noni Madueke, but Arteta is still seeking one more attacking piece to complete his puzzle. Rodrygo, who has 68 goals and 51 assists in 270 appearances for Real Madrid, remains a top target. However, his €90 million valuation and wage demands north of £250,000 per week have made a permanent deal financially challenging.

According to reports The Times, Arsenal are willing to proceed only if Rodrygo is available on loan. This would allow the club to avoid a massive upfront fee while still adding a high-caliber player to their squad. Real Madrid, while not actively shopping Rodrygo, are said to be open to offers, and intermediaries are exploring options for the Brazilian forward.

Rodrygo’s versatility and ability to play on both sides of the front line make him a desirable option for Arteta, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Leandro Trossard’s future. The Gunners are also pursuing Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, who is reportedly tempted by a move to the Emirates.

With the Premier League opener against Manchester United looming, Arsenal are expected to accelerate talks in the coming weeks. Whether Real Madrid will sanction a loan remains the key question.
