This move isn’t entirely surprising to insiders. Heinze and Arteta once shared the pitch at Paris Saint-Germain in the early 2000s, where a bond was formed. Arteta has publicly praised Heinze’s mentorship during their PSG days, calling him a guiding figure early in his career.

Since hanging up his boots in 2014, Gabriel Heinze has tested his managerial mettle across Argentina with clubs like Newell’s Old Boys, Argentinos Juniors, and Vélez Sarsfield, plus a stint in Major League Soccer with Atlanta United. While his managerial record has seen ups and downs, his football intellect and passion for the game are widely respected.

Gabriel Heinze now links up with Arsenal’s coaching veterans including Albert Stuivenberg, Nicolas Jover, and Iñaki Caña Pavón, as the Gunners gear up to finally bring silverware back to North London. His South American insight could be a valuable asset, particularly for fellow compatriots like Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal’s goal with this addition is not only to strengthen their tactical depth, but also to enrich the squad’s mentality with a proven winner who once stood on the other side of the rivalry.
