Arsenal have strike a significant transfer coup, agreeing to a deal with Real Sociedad for midfielder Mikel Merino.
Arsenal has been after the Spanish international for a while now, and has finally convinced Real Sociedad to let go of their talented midfield player. Merino’s arrival will bolster Arsenal’s midfield options and add depth to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The agreement between Arsenal and Real Sociedad includes an initial fee of £33.5 million, with additional performance-related add-ons of £5million as reported by David Ornstein. Merino, 28, is expected to travel to London soon to complete his medical at Arsenal’s London Colney training base. He will sign a four-year contract with an option for an additional year.
