Tomiyasu will be out for several weeks due to a knee injury. The 25-year-old Japanese international, who has been a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad, sustained the injury during pre-season training and was subsequently left out of the team’s pre-season tour in the United States.

Tomiyasu’s absence was felt during Arsenal’s recent 2-0 victory over Lyon, where the Gunners lifted the Emirates Cup. Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, confirmed that Tomiyasu’s recovery will take time, urging patience as the defender works his way back to full fitness.

“I think it will take weeks on that one unfortunately,” Arteta told reporters of Tomiyasu’s injury. “He’s going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it’s going to take a few weeks.”

In response to Tomiyasu’s injury, Arteta is set to promote 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly to the first team. The young talent is expected to fill in at left-back, showcasing Arsenal’s commitment to nurturing young players and providing them with opportunities at the highest level.

Tomiyasu’s injury is a significant blow for Arsenal as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season. His ability to play both as a right-back and a center-back has been invaluable to the team.
